Equinox Restaurant @ Swissotel, Singapore – International Buffet

November 10th, 2009 Leave a Comment

Last Saturday, my wife and I patronized Equinox @ Swissotel again. This time I brought along my digital camera and newly acquired nendroid, Ms. Saber Lily. It was the usual stuff, buffet lunch from 12.00p.m. to 2.30p.m.

Being located on the 70th floor, diners can enjoy the view of Singapore.

We didn’t manage to reserve the window seats due to last hour reservation. But, with the cleverly designed windows and seats, we easily got the best views over the Singapore skyline from our seats. In fact, sitting by the window in the afternoon may not be a good choice as the heat and glare can be unbearable at times.

They have wide variety of food selections — salad, ice-cold local seafood, sushi and sashimi, soups and etc.

For me, I’m a seafood lover. Hence, I rushed for the ice-cold local seafood and sashimi first. Look at the freshly cut sashimi and fresh-water live prawn!

Next, we were served with one of their signature dish, the Pan-fried Foie Gras de Canard, which was freshly prepared by the kitchen team. It used to be free-flow last year, where a chef would prepare it at a bar-stall. I think the policy was changed after the economic crisis hit. I must admit that this is my favorite dish of their buffet lunch. Just a taste of it and I’m sure you’d patronize them again for more. Even Saber Lily was asking me to feed her some foie gras!!

If you are like me, an onion soup lover, you should try this. The onion was soft and the soup was simply great. I could even smell the soup while snapping this photo. In fact, I wanted to go for more bowls. Fortunately, my rational mind kicked in. I needed to save my stomach for more seafood!

I also tried out their Chilean Queen Scallop with Lychee and Sesame Salsa. Aarrgghh… Saber wanted more after having tasted the mouth-watering foie gras.

Yesh! More seafood! The two oysters are actually of different kind. One was tasmanian oyster and the other one was… er… I don’t remember anymore. But, they tasted great when I ate them with lemon juice and tobasco sauce. If you haven’t tried this combination, you should! Btw, I think Saber doesn’t like seafood. Hahaha :)

Since I couldn’t get over the previously tasted foie gras, I went to get the Mousse from Foie Gras de Canard with Summer Truffle. I don’t really enjoy this mousse as much as the foie gras. “Saber, are you sure you want this?”

By now, I was already bloated. I had to try their desert! I can’t remember their name either because Saber kept eyeing at my food and she was trying to gain my sympathy…

“Hey Saber! What are you trying to do?”, I blurted out when I saw her holding her sword.

AHA! Ms. Saber wanted to slice my char-grilled beef!

Wow! She actually moved the beef to the side. “I shall give you the potatoes, ok?”, I said. :) The beef was tender and juicy. It was my favorite a la carte main course that came with the buffer lunch.

By now, I was darn full. So, I could only go of a small bowl of ice-cream, raspberry and chocolate. This time I gave her a few spoons of ice-cream. Ice-cream is a girl’s second best friend (I couldn’t afford any diamonds though).

I ended the buffet with a cup of hot tea.

I must admit that it was a great buffet. This was my fourth time visiting Equinox. I’ll definitely go back for more! You should try too if you have not.
