The image of the sphinx is a depiction of royal power. Only a pharaoh or an animal could be shown this way, with the animal representing a protective deity.

Thanks Yi,
I hope to share the knowledge with my reader. Indeed, the experiences of seeing the actual statues and photos are different. Every viewing angle provides a different perspective of the statues actually. I learned a lot from this visitation, as in what internal organs are to be removed before mummifying and about their civilization.

The statues and artifacts look really beautiful. It must have been an amazing display and really fun to see them irl.
I love the statues of Sekhmet and Horus.
I also liked the layers of linen display... A bit creepy but also very cool.
Thanks for all the educational blurbs too!

@Lyli,
Actually, I prefer Greeks' Mythology. I like The Louvre, it's so big that I couldn't even finish everything within a day, just like the Vatican Museums and National Art Gallery of DC. They are all so huge if compared to our local humble museums.

---

@Katsura-chan,
The Egyptians have great historical path. They are one of the earliest civilization around. For me, I like their works. They were able to create/sculpt/build such great stuff or buildings (like pyramid and sphinx) back then when the technology wasn't as advanced as today.

---

@chubbybots,
Almost correct. My wife is not a curator, she is a conservator. She preserves and conserves artworks though.

The Korean posts? I did a lot of homework on those bro! I search every wikipedia. ;)

100 years from now, if Saber nendo can still be around, it would be an artifact. But it's a PVC, I doubt those plastics can last unless you keep them dry and under cool temperature. Singapore is too humid for them. Once the plastic synthesizer comes out... they become sticky nendos/figures.

Ah so your wife is a curator :D That explains all the history related stuff you post even from your korean trip haha!

Nevertheless great thorough and in depth coverage! I won't use flash to take pictures of these relics, I actually prefer the ambient light in the exhibition, adds more 'history' to the look haha!!

Wonder if hundred of years down the road will a Saber nendo pop up as a relic :D

Wow that's a huge amount of work to gather all those information !
I remember visiting an Egyptian exposition in Bruxelles when i was young but i'm more fascinated in Egyptian historical path rather than their arts and constructions achievements.
It's a very interesting civilization to me but nor for their pyramids, tombs and such.
I have big Egyptian fans in my family ha ha maybe i'm bit bored of it because of them :p
Anyway, amazing post, great great job :)

Lylibellule is late... i lost the pace it seems ^^

Another post on a big subject you perfectly covered. Egyptians civilization always fascinated me. So much think to discover without mentioning what we don't know yet.
I visited the Louvre in Paris in the Egyptian section. I would loved to visit this exposition you were lucky enough to visit.
Thanks again for sharing this with us. :)

@mikiwank,
Thanks man. The information is from the curators. Thanks to them. For a moment, I thought you were referring to some anime until I googled it. The cards aren't historical items. So I guess I didn't see them at all. Oh wait, I think I saw them at the recreation area.

---

@rockleelotus,
*LOL* I'd be happy if I could find the answer to become a millionaire ;)
Ya, there are big and small sculptures. The smaller ones are kept behind the glass under very dimmed light. I didn't take photo for every of them. Some are just too dark for my compact camera.

---

@GREW,
Oooo... That must be a nice experience to visit one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. I wish to visit every Wonders of the World if I could. :)
I can't claim credit for the explanations. I must give them to our local curators.

---

@moemoekyun,
You went there too? Cool. I tried the Egyptian games at the recreation area and printed my names on the bookmark too.

---

@divinelight,
It depends on the museum policy actually. e.g Taking photos are okay in The Lurve Musuem but it's a NO NO in Uffizi Museum.

By right, as long as you don't use any flash, it should okay to take photos. Flash may degrade the artifacts or paintings (my wife is a conservator, she explained all these to me ;))

However, some museums prohibit photo-taking because many visitors, by default, use the flash. They don't seem to know how to turn the flash off.

---

@Xine,
Oh! So any interesting places that you visited? I think they had other exhibition there during that period. If I'm not wrong, it should be the Kangxi's exhibitions. There are always exhibitions all year round. Well, maybe next AFA? ;)
