Swissotel The Stamford, Singapore – A Weekend Getaway

June 3rd, 2012 10 Commented

In order to escape from our busy schedule and recharge our energies, I booked a weekend getaway at Swissôtel The Stamford. This 5 star hotel is strategically located in the heart of Singapore city’s shopping, business and entertainment district. Being one of Southeast Asia’s tallest hotel, it also boasts breathtaking panoramic views of Singapore.

We were greeted with an excellent view of the city and the Marina Bay Sands, when we checked into our deluxe room. The colour accent of the room was pleasing and it exuded a luxurious feel to it. Even though some of the furniture and the textiles in the room was slightly worn, I felt it was rather cozy and comfy.

As for the room amenities, it includes:

  • 24-hour in-room dining
  • Coffee and tea making facilities
  • Complimentary newspapers
  • In-room personal safe
  • Iron and ironing board
  • Minibar

We were delighted that the complimentary tea and coffee provided are from TWG. However, I’d be a very happy customer if they gave complimentary high speed wireless internet access too.

The bathroom was of average size, equipped with a bathtub without a separate shower area. My wifey was expecting a rainshower bathroom in a separate area. Nevertheless, the bathroom is very clean and well stocked with swiss toiletries.

That aside, we decided to make full use of the scenery we had. I took several photos of the city scape in the day where Marina sands bay, Esplanade and the skyscrapers called out to us. The sky was cloudy that day but luckily the view was amazing and thus the photo still turned out good in the end!

By night, the view from our balcony transformed into pretty glittery lights against the dark sky. It was mesmerising and romantic for sure. =D

We also went to nearby places to take more night shots – afterall we have a room in the city! I like this view of the lotus shape designed ArtScience Museum hand in hand with Marina Sands Bay. It shouts style and culture.

We strolled along the newly opened bridge as well, which was teeming with people even at 10pm.

The view along the stroll was equally great just even though it was a little humid that evening.
This short break helped us to let go of the tensions and enjoy the weekend with breathtaking views, relaxing strolls and a cozy room.

Also, you are entitled to a 50% discount at their selected restaurants when you stay with them. So, do remember to check with the hotel.

The view from your room appears quite nice there, as well as the room.
Too bad you had no complimentary high speed internet, well for 2 days I can live without interne, but on the third day I would get nervous without it :D

You took some great photos at night, singapore must be nice… one day =)

I find that higher end hotels charge you for internet access, while lower end hotels give it to you for free; kinda counter-intuitive. The view from your room looks amazine though, especially with the Marina Bay Sands in the background.

I think my room is the cheapest among the all and hence no free wifi/internet for us. But seriously, I think they just wanted to get more money. How much is the internet connection anyway. It’s cheap here. :D

Nice photos! Swissotel The Stamford was one of our choices when we went there before but we settled for Fairmont. Which TWG flavor is your favorite? I have yet to try it since I think it’s also available locally.

    • softz says:

Thank you. Fairmont is beautiful I heard. I hope that I’ll get a chance to stay there next time. I need to search for vouchers :D As for TWG, I’m still new with them. What’s your favourite? I’m trying Silver Moon now.

I want to ask you this question: when you stayed at Swissotel The Stamford, the balcony door was closed all the time? And you need to contact with hotel’s staff in order for them to open the balcony door for you? Is it correct?

    Thanks,
    Amy

      Hi Amy,

The balcony door is closed all the time (to prevent dust and noise I guess). It is locked by one of those normal glass door latch. It is easily opened and we need not contact the hotel staff to open door. In fact, you can open any time and get a good panoramic view of marina bay area.

      Hope that helps.
